I only have one article so far... my story, but because there's so much stuff on here, i don't really know how to get people to read it. and for later when i post more stuff. how do people usually get others to read their work on this site?

Generally, you shouldn't need to do anything to get people to read your articles. If they're on the site, then members should see them. However, I have noticed that longer articles don't get as many votes or reviews as shorter articles, because fewer people have time to read them all the way through. If you submit an article with several chapters, it might take a lot longer to get feedback on it.
Of course, if you want to bring more attention to one of your articles, you could always say "hey guys read my stuff" in the chatbox, or tell your friends and people on other websites about your article.

We're working on a few components of the site that will hopefully improve the amount of feedback articles get, but until then, I agree that Michael's options would probably be your best bet.
I've created a new topic specifically for requesting feedback
here, so if anyone else isn't getting much feedback, you can request it in there.

A few components? Like you get points for every review/comment you give?

Thanks guys... the story i have up right now is pretty long so I guess i'll just have to wait for someone to have the time to read it. :)

We've been trying to figure out a way to tackle this for a long time running. Currently, writing a lot of good reviews will increase you're voting weight. Also, the satisfaction of helping another writer out should make you feel all warm inside. If you have any suggestions on how we could improve our system, feel free to voice your opinions
here.

If only this incentive alone were sufficient.
One of the best ways to increase feedback is to offer more points or other rewards, but if people are only giving feedback for those rewards, the quality of feedback might go down as quantity goes up. These things aren't always easy to figure out. I've already thrown Caleb a few ideas over the past few months, but there's no telling how many of these ideas would actually work.
